Shahrekord is a city in western Iran, and is the capital of the Chahar Mahaal o Bakhtiari province. It is situated 107 km southwest of Isfahan, and 521 km southwest of the capital Tehran.
Shahrekord is among the highest cities in Iran (2061 m above sea level). Its weather is dry and cold in winter and mild in summer. It was originally known as Deh Kord, which means Village of the Kurds. In 1935 the name was changed to Shahrekord, meaning City of the Kurds, to reflect metropolitan growth and increases in population.
